Shouldn't the expected value of the number of trials until you roll a 1 be 6. If the chance of getting a 1 is 1/6. Then 1/p = 1/1/6 = 6 trials. This would make intuitive sense. Also see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geometric_distribution

I am having trouble starting my final summative, here is the situation.
The topic I have picked is 'the correlation between parent marital status and academic achievement'. I finished my surveys, asking for gender, Grade average, parent martial status, and how their relationship with their parents is.
There is all good and well, and I have lots of information, but I no idea how to calculate it.
I'm totally lost on how to use my surveys and turn it into information for my project.
