Linear Regression (mediocre example)This is a featured page

This is an example of a mediocre entry.

The following flowchart outlines the process of linear regression.

linear regression flowchart

The equations for r, a, and b are found on page 163 and 172, respectively.

Example: The following data shows data for adult students in a Continuing Education course.

age (years)grade (%)
3342
2551
1958
4465
5067
5475
3882
2995

With this data, r= 0.25, a=0.35 %/years, and b=54.18%.

The equation of the line of best fit is, therefore, y=0.35x +54.18.

Flowchart is nice, but the equations are not given. [1 mark]
The table in the example is nice, but for full marks, show either the scatter plot OR show some numbers plugged into the equations. [1 mark]
Spelling and grammar are good, and obviously checked with the built-n spell checker. [2 marks].
There are 3 descriptive tags proper to this topic. [2 marks].
This entry would have received 6/8, with the addition of another 2 marks made possible with the writer's comment.
